Livingston's Heroics Come Up Shy Against Oral Roberts

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. - Coming off the bench in the fourth minute, freshman Madi Livingston accounted for eight saves in the University of North Dakota's 1-0 loss to Oral Roberts on Thursday.

ORU scored the match's lone goal on a penalty kick in the 99th minute, following a Hannah Olson foul inside the 18-yard box on Golden Eagle Drishana Pillay.

With Jordan Langebartels at the penalty spot, the freshman goalkeeper dove to her right and stretched to place her fingertips on the ball. However, the ball slipped into the side netting for Langebartels' fourth goal of the season.

Oral Roberts posted two shots on goal in the opening half, while North Dakota earned three corner kicks to pressure ORU. UND did not record a chance in that span.

After feeling things out in the opening 45 minutes, both teams attacked in the second half as Livingston came up with six more saves while Allison Austin accounted for two.

The Golden Eagles opened the match with an 8-0 edge in shots on goal, but that all changed in the 82nd minute after a Mimi Eiden shot on goal, aimed between the keeper's legs.

Though Austin stopped it, she was out of position in a minute later as Mara Yapello chipped a ball while she was off her line. The ball did not clear the bottom of the crossbar, however. Olivia Knox collected the rebound and fired it on goal, but Austin saved the shot, ending the threat.

Livingston stepped onto the pitch in the fourth minute as Catherine Klein dove for a ball and was injured by Samantha See on the play. Livingston entered the match with only 14 minutes of action under her belt.

UND will return to action next Thursday, Oct. 24, when it hosts Denver.
