TULSA, Okla. – The University of North Dakota women's tennis team accomplished a pair of unheralded feats on Saturday afternoon as the program won its first conference match as members of The Summit League while senior
Preethi Kasilingam became the first player in program history to win 100 games in her career in a 5-2 victory over Oral Roberts in Tulsa.
Â
"Preethi has taken great pride in being a central role in the growth of the UND women's tennis program over the last four years," said Associate Head Coach
Kyle Anderson. "Her consistent competitive spirit is admirable, and it's fitting that she could get her 100th win in such a meaningful match."
Â
The senior becomes the first player in program history, on either the men's or women's side, to win 100-career matches in her career. The mark includes all wins during fall and spring seasons as well as in both singles and doubles play to inaugurate the century club at North Dakota.
Â
Also with the win, UND (8-7, 1-0 Summit League) notches its first victory in conference play as a member of the Summit League and moves the Fighting Hawks over the .500 mark with their second straight win.
Â
In doubles play, UND took the early 1-0 lead thanks to victories on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts.

Masha Lobanova started the afternoon with a 6-2 win from the top position before

Allie Ochotorena sealed the 1-0 advantage for the visitors with a 6-4 triumph on the No. 3 court.
Â
Kasilingam increased the lead to 2-0 with her 100th win on the No. 3 singles court by rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 triumph before

Â
Oral Roberts answered with a pair of singles wins on the second and fourth courts to cut the deficit to 3-2, but UND answered with a pair of thrilling victories in three sets at the No. 5 and 6 position to seal the win. On the No. 5 court, Finnigan dropped her first set, 6-1, before responding with a 6-2 win in the second frame to force a tiebreaker where she rolled by a 6-3 score to secure the match victory.
Alex Revenig added an exclamation point to the win with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 triumph on the sixth court.
