TULSA, Okla.  – Riding the high of monumental victory in the direction of the program yesterday, the University of North Dakota women's tennis team notched another superlative in its belt with a 7-0 drubbing over Western Illinois on Sunday afternoon in Tulsa.

With the win, UND moves two games above the .500 mark (9-7) for the first time this season, has won a season-high three straight matches, and moves to 2-0 in Summit League play. The program matches only the women's basketball team as the first to win its opening pair of conference tilts in the Summit League era.

In doubles play, the Fighting Hawks wasted no time jumping out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a victory by default on the No. 3 court and a 6-1 win from
Kaede Amano and
Masha Lobanova at the top position.

The momentum carried over into singles play as UND dropped only two sets in the contest to cruise to six singles victories and the match win. The Fighting Hawks quickly extended the advantage to 3-0 thanks to another victory by default at the No. 6 court and a win via retirement on the No. 5 court.

Isa Sullivan notched her third victory of the week, all at the top position, by a 6-4, 6-1 score to seal the match with UND's fourth win of the day. Amano rolled on the No. 2 court with a 6-2, 6-3 victory to push the lead to 5-0 before a pair of three-set victories at the third and fourth positions ended the day on a high note for the Hawks.

Preethi Kasilingam collected win No. 101 of her career in thrilling fashion by bouncing back from a first set defeat with a 6-4 triumph in the second frame and an 11-9 win in the tiebreaker on the third court.
Zahra Finnigan polished off the shutout with a 7-5, 4-6, 10-3 win on the No. 4 court.

North Dakota returns to action next Saturday with a showdown against Utah State at 2 p.m. from Omaha.
