MOORHEAD, Minn. - Select members of the North Dakota track program competed under the lights at Jake Christiansen Stadium and Athletic Complex at the Cobber Twilight on Tuesday night as the Fighting Hawks marched one step closer to the Summit League Championship March 8-10.
Emma Player shattered her previous career-best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing second in the event (12:03.49) and rewriting her previous PR by almost 12 seconds. Elyssa Peterson also highlighted the night for the distance runners as she ran her season-best 4:57.86 in the 1,500-meters to finish fourth overall.
In the long jump,
Monica Kuehl finished runner-up with a 17-6.75 (5.35m), an inch and a half ahead of teammate and UND record holder
Autumn Stokes who recorded a mark of 17-5.50 (5.32m).
In the men's 800-meter,
Scott Kvidera and
Joseph Fenstermacher both ran season-best times as Kvidera finished third with a time of 1:55.56 while Fenstermacher recorded a 1:57.50 to come in sixth.
Connor McMannes also ran season-best in the 800-meters (1:59.14).
Finally, in the jumps,
Alex Torp cleared 14-6.25 (4.43m) in the pole vault to take runner-up honors in the event.
The Fighting Hawks will close the regular season Saturday when they compete at The Ron Masanz Classic at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
