Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. - The University of North Dakota women's soccer team extended its season-opening undefeated streak on Wednesday at South Carolina State, defeating the Bulldogs, 2-0.
"I was happy we got out there healthy and unscathed tonight," said Head Coach
Chris Logan. "They were a very physical team and were beating us up a bit. The pitch was very narrow, so it played to their style well. We dominated play and did a good job of not giving up any chances defensively and creating them offensively."
North Dakota scored the opening goal in the 42nd minute on a goal from a set-piece as
Olivia Knox put the ball in the net on a service from
Olivia Valdivia for her first career assist. The goal by Knox was her second of the season.
After entering halftime with a 1-0 advantage, the Fighting Hawks quickly scored a second goal right out of the second half gate.
Mimi Eiden netted her first of the season with an assist from
Cassie Giddings in the first five minutes of the half.
Due to technical difficulties at South Carolina State, complete stats were unavailable following the match. An updated box score from the match and season statistics will be updated on FightingHawks.com as soon as the situation is resolved.
UND will return to action Friday, Aug. 30 at the Citadel. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m., Central time.
