GRAND FORKS, N.D. - With five different goal scorers for the North Dakota women's soccer team against Minot State, it was
Mimi Eiden and
Grace Roswadovski that paved the way in Tuesday's 8-0 win.
Eiden accounted for three first-half goals and an assist, while Roswadovski recorded two goals and a helper in her collegiate debut. Eiden's hat trick was the first hat trick recorded in the first half since North Dakota jumped to Division I in 2008.
The Fighting Hawks held a 5-0 edge at halftime as Eiden drew a pair of fouls inside the 18-yard box in the eighth and 13th minutes to earn penalty kicks for UND, driving both past the keeper.
She then fed
Bailey McNitt on North Dakota's third goal in the 17th minute and completed the hat trick in the 19th minute as
Megan Wright fed a long ball to Eiden.
Roswadovski earned her first collegiate point on a
Lexi Miller goal in the 41st minute and opened up the second half scoring in the 56th minute when she chipped a ball off the bottom of the crossbar to put the Fighting Hawks ahead, 6-0.
The freshman doubled in the 68th minute as she dribbled up the right-wing and shot from the edge of the box into the far post after a long ball from
Megan Schumacher.
Schumacher had a hand in the final goal as well, delivering the final pass to
Meghan Wilson in a tiki-taka, give and go series of passes at the top of the 18-yard with Miller.
The Beavers tested goalkeeper
Catherine Klein with long-range shots, but the senior was up to the task as she stopped all five shots on goal.
North Dakota returns to action Sunday, Sept. 15 when it takes on Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Ariz. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. Central.
