NOTES: RV/RV North Dakota Meets No. 1 NDSU

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – RV/RV North Dakota hits the road for the first time this season, making the 75-mile trek down I-29 to battle No. 1/1 North Dakota State at the Fargodome on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. and can be seen statewide on NBC North Dakota.

It's been four years since the Fighting Hawks and Bison last tangled on the gridiron. North Dakota and North Dakota State met on Sept. 19, 2015 for the first meeting between the programs at the Division I level. NDSU held the Fighting Hawks to just 61 total offensive yards and tallied 21 points in the second quarter to post a 34-9 win.

UND has had plenty of success in Fargo, winning 28 and dropping only 24. Moving indoors has been even friendlier to the green and white, posting a 4-2 mark inside the Fargodome. The four wins have been by an average of 13.8 points, including a 21-point win on Oct. 29, 1994 in the first meeting inside the dome.

With the Bison entering the week atop both polls, this will mark the first game for UND against a top-ranked team since joining the Division I ranks back in 2008. Overall, the Fighting Hawks are 8-24 against ranked opponents, but have won two of their last three. North Dakota's last game vs. a No. 1 program was Nov. 24, 2007, a 21-14 loss at two-time defending DII national champion Grand Valley State in the second round of the playoffs. That game was the final one of the DII era for UND.
