Yapello's Opening Goal Not Enough at Boise State

BOISE, Idaho - After striking first blood in the seventh minute of play, the University of North Dakota was unable to respond to Boise State in its weekend opener as the Broncos accounted for three unanswered goals in the Fighting Hawks 3-1 loss.

Mara Yapello scored the first goal of the match in the seventh minute of play following a Boise State foul to give the junior winger three goals on the year. Sarah Doran notched her second assist of the season on the goal.

Twelve minutes later, Boise State's All-American forward Raimee Sherle evened the match with her sixth goal of the year after an assist from Emily Curry. BSU took the lead with less than a minute left in the first half as Jennifer Turnek scored the go-ahead goal.

The Broncos finished the fight in the 58th minute as Ashleigh Harrison tallied the final goal to close the match, 3-1.

Boise State peppered Catherine Klein with 12 shots on goal as the senior saved nine of those shots in the match.

UND will close the weekend at Idaho on Sunday, taking on the host Vandals at 4 p.m. Central.
