UND blows past Green Bay, 7-0, for second straight win

Fighting Hawks move to 2-2; host Bemidji State on Monday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team opened up the home portion of its schedule with a bang, rolling past Green Bay, 7-0, on Saturday morning from Choice Health and Fitness.

The win is the second straight for the Fighting Hawks (2-3), both coming via the sweep, and their fourth win in the last five at home dating back to last season.

In doubles play, UND took advantage on the bottom courts to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Andrea Jansson and Nina Zdravkovic collected a 6-2 win on the No. 2 court before Isa Sullivan and Frida Soko clinched the 1-0 lead for the hosts with a 6-4 triumph from the No. 3 position.

Singles action saw the Hawks win all six matches, including five via a sweep, to post the 7-0 victory. Allie Ochotorena, Soko, and Zdravkovic all moved over the .500 mark on the season with two-set victories; while Sullivan and Jansson made it back-to-back wins with a pair of sweeps on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts.

Kaede Amano put the finishing touches on the sweep for UND with a thrilling, three-set triumph from the top court. The senior claimed the first frame, 6-4, before dropping a 7-5 decision in the second to move to a tiebreaker. There, Amano rolled to a 10-2 victory to cement her second singles victory of the season.

North Dakota will go for three straight wins on Monday morning with a showdown against Bemidji State at 11:30 a.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
