GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team capped off a perfect weekend of tennis for the Fighting Hawks at Choice Health and Fitness on Monday morning with a 7-0 win over Bemidji State.
UND (3-3) has now rattled off three straight wins, with each victory coming via a sweep. As a program, both tennis teams have won their last 10 matches and concluded the weekend with a 4-0 record.
In doubles action, the Hawks made quick work of the Beavers (4-6) with a pair of 6-1 triumphs on the top two courts to take a 1-0 lead.
Allie Ochotorena and
Kaede Amano, who did not compete in singles play, rolled to a 6-1 win at the No. 1 position before Isa Sulliva and
Jaylee Yasunaga replicated their teammates' efforts from the No. 2 position. UND made it a clean sweep in two-person play, as
Alex Revenig and
Charlotte Bowles posted a 6-3 score from the No. 3 court.
Andrea Jansson took a turn at the No. 1 position in singles play, rolling to a 6-0, 6-2 victory to extend the UND lead to 2-0.
Frida Soko pushed the match to its brink with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph on the No. 2 court to extend her winning streak to three straight singles matches.
Elizabeth Ihrke (No. 6), Yasunaga (No. 3), Revenig (No. 4), and Bowles (No. 5) all saw their first action of the season in singles play and each collected a win in two sets to complete the clean sweep for the Hawks.
North Dakota will enjoy a weekend free of matches before hitting the road for a pair of showdowns in Des Moines, Iowa against Drake (Feb. 28) and future Summit League foe Kansas City (Feb. 29).
