Drake snaps UND's win streak with 6-1 victory

Fighting Hawks fall to 3-4; battle Kansas City on Saturday

Box Score DES MOINES, Iowa -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team fell, 6-1, to Drake on Friday afternoon from the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines to kickoff a weekend of tennis. UND (3-4) saw its winning streak come to an end at three straight matches and falls to 0-3 this season on the road.

In doubles play, Drake (5-4) jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a pair of victories on the top and bottom courts. The Fighting Hawks battled, however, with Allie Ochotorena and Nina Zdravkovic claiming a 6-4 win from the No. 2 court to cap off two-person play.

It was the top courts that proved to be the difference for the Bulldogs in the victory, as the hosts claimed wins on the first four courts to clinch the match victory. Frida Soko stretched her winning streak to four straight victories with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph from the sixth spot to notch the lone victory on the day for the Hawks.

North Dakota returns to action tomorrow afternoon for a neutral-site showdown against future Summit League foe Kansas City at noon.
