BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss.--
Ryan Riihinen's three straight rounds in the 70s paced the Fighting Hawks at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in their second Spring event. The senior shot an opening-round two-over 74 and followed with a 76 and a 77 to finish just outside the top 20 individually.
As a team, North Dakota finished ninth, closing the event with a final-round 316.
Patrick Traynor improved a shot each round (80-79-78) while
Jackson Ward carded a third-round 77 to tie for the team lead on Tuesday.
Bryce Bye shot 81 in the second round while
Cole Johnson's Tuesday 84 was his best showing at the 6,769-yard tournament.
UND will compete at next week's Colin Montgomerie Invitational, set for Augusta Pines Golf Course in Spring, Texas. The event runs Mar. 9-10.
