NOTES: UND goes for KC sweep

Next Game: vs. Kansas City
The University of North Dakota men's basketball game will go for the sweep against Kansas City on Jan. 3 at 3:30 p.m. from the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. Fans can catch all the action on MidcoSN2 with Alex Heinert and Zachary Dosch on the call or tune into Paul Ralston on the Home of Economy Radio Network.

Series History vs. Kansas City
This will be the seventh all-time meeting between North Dakota and Kansas City, with the Roos holding a 4-2 advantage in the series. The two teams met each season from 2008-2012, with the Fighting Sioux claiming their first victory as a Division I program in the Nov. 14, 2008 contest in KC. UND halted a four-game winning streak for the Roos with a 52-45 win on Saturday.

2-0, Let's Go!
With a win over Kansas City on Saturday, UND will be gunning to start league play 2-0 for the second straight season with another victory on Sunday. That would mark the first time since the 1991-92 and 1992-93 seasons that UND has started back-to-back years with a 2-0 record in league play.

Home Opening W's
Despite it not coming until Jan. 2, UND still found a win to scratch out a W in its home opener. This marks the 11th straight year that the Fighting Hawks have won their first game in Grand Forks, marking all but two seasons since moving to Division I in 2008.

They Ask How, Not How Many
UND scratched out a win over Kansas City despite scoring only 52 points in the win, that is the least amount of points tallied in a winning effort since Feb. 14, 2013 vs. Sacramento State (49-48). Before that game? You have to go back to Dec. 18, 1982 when the Sioux eeked out a 50-41 win over Puget Sound.

Since 2008-09, UND is 8-49 when scoring less than 60 points in a game.

Hello Again
It was a long time since North Dakota played a competitive basketball game inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Fighting Hawks went 316 days between their last game on Feb. 22, 2020 vs. North Dakota State and Jan. 2, 2021 vs. Kansas City. That stretch was the third-longest in the nation behind NJIT (323) and South Dakota State (317).
