UND Visits Fargo for Weekend Tilt

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota soccer team will continue Summit League play this weekend when it visits North Dakota State (1-7-1, 1-1-0, Summit) in Fargo to battle the Bison on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. Live stats and a live stream of the game will be available at GoBison.com.

The Fighting Hawks (3-6-1, 1-1-0 Summit) picked up their first conference win of the season, knocking off the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts, 2-0, at Bronson Field on Sunday. Bailey McNitt shined against the Golden Eagles, dishing out a pair of assists. Her first assist came in the 83rd minute when she dribbled into the left side of the box and found Julia Briggs near the right post for her first collegiate goal to put UND up 1-0. McNitt recorded a second assist in the 88th minute when she found Mara Yapello near the right post to put the game on ice 2-0 late.

In the conference opener on Friday afternoon, North Dakota fell to Kansas City, 1-0, at Bronson Field. The Roos scored in the 19th minute and the Fighting Hawks were unable to find an equalizer, despite holding a 6-5 edge in set pieces. Taylor Preston led the UND offense with two scoring attempts in the contest.

Madi Livingston was in net the entire weekend, playing for the full 90 minutes in both games and piling up 10 saves. Livingston recorded four saves and the shutout against Oral Roberts on Sunday and rejected six scoring attempts against Kansas City on Friday.

North Dakota State carries a record of 1-7-1 and a conference record of 1-1-0. The Bison earned a split in conference play last weekend, defeating Oral Roberts 3-2 on Friday before dropping a 1-0 decision to Kansas City on Sunday. The Bison played stiff competition during its non-conference schedule taking on Idaho, Baylor, Wyoming, Creighton and Marquette. The lone draw of the season came against the Cowboys of Wyoming, where the Bison earned the 1-1 tie.

The Series
North Dakota State leads the series 10-6-1. Most recently in the series, the Fighting Hawks won 1-0 at Bronson Field on March 14, 2021. UND scored the lone goal of the contest in the ninth minute when Cassie Giddings held off her defender and headed the ball to Hannah Olson, who found Mara Yapello for her first score of the season.
