Grand Forks, N.D. – North Dakota Women's Basketball announced captains for the 2021-2022 season. Seniors
Claire Orth and
Joli Daninger have been voted as captains by their teammates.
Orth, known has a hard nosed defender, appeared in 19 games as a junior in the 2020-2021 COVID impacted season making three starts. She averaged 21 minutes per game and scored 4.8 points per game and grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game. As a sophomore in the 2019-2020 season, she started all 30 games while securing a late game steal in the final minute against Valparaiso to aid the Fighting Hawks to victory. In 2018-2019, she was the only freshman to average 10-or-more minutes per game and was third on the team in steals.
Daninger, a transfer from DePaul was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award in 2021. Daninger, originally from Andover, Minn. Appeared in 68 games over the last three seasons for the Blue Demons following an injury related redshirt in 2017-2018. She had a career high 16 points as a sophomore going 6-of-10 from the field including 4-of-8 from three point territory against Arkansas State. Daninger led Andover high School to the Section 7AAAA Section Championship and a berth in the MSHSL Elite Eight. She graduated from DePaul and is working on a graduate degree at UND.
