CHICAGO -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Marquette on Saturday as part of a neutral-site showdown in Chicago.
UND (1-5) battled against one of the BIG EAST Conference's top programs, but the Golden Eagles (3-2) proved to be too much in the end.
After taking the doubles point, Marquette picked up a win on the fifth court due to a retirement from
Nina Zdravkovic, but UND was able to get on the scoreboard when
Sapir Sela picked up a 7-5, 7-6 win at the No. 3 position.
Allie Ochotorena and
Angela Georgieva both fell in a pair of tightly contested, 7-6 second sets to give Marquette the four points needed to seal the match.
Andrea Jansson took her match to a tiebreaker on the fourth court, but couldn't complete the comeback.
North Dakota returns to action on Feb. 27 with a showdown against Milwaukee at 1 p.m.
