MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team fell, 5-2, to Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon in a road contest.
UND (1-6) rallied to knot the match at two, but the Panthers (5-1) answered with three straight singles victories to claim the victory.
The Fighting Hawks battled on every court, claiming a doubles win on the No. 2 court with a 6-4 victory by
Allie Ochotorena and
Kaede Amano, but the Panthers posted a 6-4 triumph of their own at the top spot and a 6-2 win on the bottom court to jump out to a 1-0 lead.
In singles play,
Andrea Jansson knotted the game at 1-1 with a thrilling, three-set victory on the No. 4 court. The Swede dropped the opening set but bounced back with a pair of 6-1 scores to seal the win.
Sapir Sela also picked up a win in singles play, tying the score at two at the time, by rallying from a first set defeat with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at the second position.
Two of the final three singles matches went the distance, but they all went the way of the Panthers in a 5-2 win for the hosts.
UND returns to action tomorrow morning for a showdown with Cardinal Stritch at 10 a.m. from Milwaukee.
