GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team made it three straight wins with a 5-2 win over Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon from Choice Health and Fitness.
UND (4-6, 1-0 Summit League) picked up four singles wins and the doubles point to ride to victory and a 1-0 start in Summit League action.
It was a quick effort in two-person play, with the Fighting Hawks rolling to a pair of triumphs on the top two courts to take a 1-0 lead.
Sapir Sela and
Andrea Jansson started it off with a 6-0 score at the first position before
Kaede Amano and
Allie Ochotorena capped off the strong start with a 6-1 win.
Jansson and Amano carried their strong play into singles action, with each picking up a win on the third and fourth courts, respectively, to quickly jump ahead 3-0. Amano rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 score and Jansson posted a 6-3, 6-2 triumph to send the match to its brink.
After ORU trimmed the lead to 3-1 with a victory on the top court, Ochotorena clinched the match at the second position with a 7-5, 6-0 win with her second straight win in singles action.
Nina Zdravkovic added a fifth triumph for the Fighting Hawks on the fifth court, winning by a 6-4, 6-3 margin.
North Dakota returns to action on Monday against Western Carolina at 2 p.m. to kick off a Spring Break road trip.
