GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team rolled to 7-0 sweep over Western Illinois on Friday afternoon from Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks.
UND (6-7, 2-0 Summit League) failed to drop a set in the match to notch its fifth victory over its last six contests and a 2-0 start in Summit League action.
The bottom court of doubles action got the play started for the Fighting Hawks, with
Kaede Amano and
Isa Sullivan picking up a 6-0 win before
Allie Ochotorena and
Nina Zdravkovic also recording a sweep at the middle position to put the hosts up 1-0.
Andrea Jansson and
Sapir Sela polished off a near-perfect performance in two-person play, sealing a trio of victories by a 6-2 score.
After a retirement on the No. 2 court gave Ochotorena a victory and a 2-0 UND lead before another pair of sweeps on the No. 5 and 6 courts by Zdravkovic and Sullivan to cement the victory.
Jansson and Amano kept it rolling from the middle positions with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph by Jansson and a 6-2, 6-0 score by Amano pushed it to 6-0 in favor of the hosts. Sela rounded out a strong evening of tennis for the Hawks with a 6-3, 7-5 win on the top court.
North Dakota returns to action tomorrow afternoon against Creighton at 3:30 p.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
