Box Score GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota soccer team fought hard in the 3-0 loss against South Dakota State on Friday afternoon from Bronson.
The Fighting Hawks and Jackrabbits battled to be the first on the board in the first half. Neither team was successful as they headed into the half tied at zero. The second half saw similar action to start as both teams locked down defensively to start. SDSU broke through first as they scored in the 68th minute to make it 1-0. UND kept attacking as they looked to tie the game, but SDSU scored their second goal in the 74th minute off of a penalty shot. The Fighting Hawks continued the fight, but the Jackrabbits sealed the 3-0 victory with a goal in the 79th minute.
UND was out shot by SDSU in the first half as they only had one shot compared to their 12. The Fighting Hawks earned one corner in the first half while the Jackrabbits had one. North Dakota added two shots in the second half as South Dakota State had six more. There were five corners in the second half with two being for UND and three being for SDSU.
Both teams played a physical match as the end saw 14 combined fouls. There was one yellow card in the match.
