NOTES: Fighting Hawks to Square Off with Bison on Saturday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota will battle North Dakota State in a battle for the state on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The game will be carried by Midco Sports Plus.

- North Dakota's last three games have gone five sets, with UND picking up 3-2 victories last Thursday (at Oral Roberts) and Saturday (at Kansas City). The Fighting Hawks also took League-leading South Dakota to five sets at home on Tuesday, but ultimately fell 2-3.

- The Fighting Hawks now have five of the top-35 players in the Summit League in kills per set. Ashlyn Olson ranks No. 15 with 2.51 kills per set, followed by Norris with 2.34 terminating attacks per set. Sierra Ward is next at No. 23 with 2.07 kills per set and Stockman is the No. 29 attacker with 1.78 K/s. Paige Barber rounds out the top-five attackers for UND and is No. 34 in terminations per set with 1.52.

- Hornyak has a team leading 25 service aces, trailed by Izzy McCormick and Carney with 24 and 22 aces, respectfully.

- Carney was selected as the TicketSmarter Summit League Volleyball Defensive Peak Performer of the Week on Tuesday. It marked the second time this season that Carney captured the accolade. She combined for 46 digs (4.6 digs per set) in the two five-set road wins against Oral Roberts and Kansas City. In the reverse sweep against the Golden Eagles, Carney tallied a career-high 25 digs while also putting down a match-high three service aces. The Moorhead, Minn., native bettered her 25-dig performance on Tuesday with a new career-best 33 digs against South Dakota.

- Earlier this season, the Fighting Hawks defeated the Bison, 3-2, in Fargo. The victory ended an eight-game winless skid against North Dakota State and was North Dakota's first win in Fargo since Oct. 12, 2018.

- If UND wins on Saturday, it will be the first win over the Bison at home since a 3-2 victory on Sept. 26, 2018.
