NOTES: UND closes first half against No. 17 Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- After grabbing two points in the opener, UND looks to close out the first half of the season with an unbeaten weekend against No. 17 Western Michigan at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday night from Lawson Ice Arena.

All UND men's hockey games, home and away, can be heard on stations across the Home of Economy Fighting Hawks Radio Network, as well as through the iHeart Radio app, with longtime broadcaster Tim Hennessy and Darrin Looker calling the action. Saturday's game can be heard on 96.1 FM (The Fox), the flagship station of North Dakota hockey.

Last night, North Dakota and No. 17 Western Michigan skated to a 2-2 tie on Friday night from Lawson Ice Arena. Despite the game finishing officially as a tie, UND earned two-of-three points with a shootout victory, 3-2. 
 
Making his first start in his home state of Michigan since joining the Fighting Hawks, goaltender Drew DeRidder turned in one of his best performances of the season. The Fenton, Mich., native stopped 26-of-28 shots, including 10 on the WMU power play, to improve to 3-6-3 on the season.
