GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Former University of North Dakota goaltender Cam Johnson made history on Monday night, as he helped the Florida Everblades capture the 2026 Kelly Cup title in six games over Kansas City.
Johnson won his fourth ECHL crown in the last five seasons – doing so in a wild, 5-4 double overtime victory on the road to secure the title.
The Troy, Mich., native was named the June M. Kelly Playoffs Most Valuable Player for the third time in his career after posting a 1.93 goals against average, a .921 save percentage and a 16-3 record during the postseason. Johnson becomes the first player in ECHL history to win three postseason MVP honors (2022, 2023, 2026).
This marks the fifth straight year that a UND alum has won the Kelly Cup (Johnson – 2026, 2024, 2023, 2022 and Chris Jandric – 2025).
