LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to UNLV on Friday afternoon to open up a three-match weekend from Las Vegas.
UND (4-6) saw its winning streak come to an end at three matches and dropping to 0-4 this season on the road. The Fighting Hawks, which are 2-2 in neutral-site matches, will close the weekend with a pair of those against Dixie State and Montana.
UNLV controlled doubles play and the bottom courts to notch the victory, but it was the top courts who provided the action for the green and white. Sophomore
Sapir Sela picked up another win from the No. 1 spot in singles play with a 7-6, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6) victory to move to 6-4 this season.
Andrea Jansson rallied from a defeat in the first set to force a tiebreaker with a 6-4 win in the second, but fell in a 13-11 battle at the second position.
North Dakota returns right back to action with that showdown against the Trailblazers on Saturday afternoon at noon.
