GRAND FORKS, N.D. – No. 7 North Dakota closes out the home portion of its regular season this weekend and aims for the Penrose Cup against No. 6 Western Michigan from Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.
All UND men's hockey games, home and away, can be heard on stations across the Home of Economy Fighting Hawks Radio Network, as well as through the iHeart Radio, FightingHawks and Varsity Network apps. The flagship station for the network is 96.1 FM (The Fox). Longtime broadcaster Tim Hennessy calls the action.
Friday's game can be seen nationally on CBS Sports Network, with Alex Heinert, Dave Starman and Shireen Saski on the call. That game will NOT be streamed on NCHC.tv, per league rights.
Heinert returns on Saturday alongside Jake Brandt to broadcast the game on Midco Sports Two and on NCHC.tv to subscribers.=
Friday will be the 35th all-time meeting between North Dakota and Western Michigan, with UND leading the series 25-9-0.
WMU got the better of UND down at Lawson Ice Arena on Jan. 21-22, sweeping the Fighting Hawks by 4-1 and 2-0 scores.
The last meeting at Ralph Engelstad Arena came on Feb. 29, 2020 when
Shane Pinto scored in overtime to give UND a 2-1 win and the Penrose Cup in what ended up being the final home game prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.
