SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of North Dakota softball team dropped a pair of contests to Sacramento State on Thursday afternoon. They fell 12-0 in the first game and fell 14-3 in the second game.
Sacramento State 12, North Dakota 0
Sacramento State tallied eight runs at the bottom of the first to post a 12-0 victory over North Dakota in five innings on Thursday afternoon.
The Fighting Hawks ran into trouble early in the game, allowing eight runs in the first inning to give the Hornet an 8-0 lead headed into the second.
The Fighting Hawks had
Lauren Feld in the circle to start. She pitched 0.1 frames of work as she allowed a seven hit, eight-run inning with only one strikeout. She dropped to 1-3 for the season.
Morgan McConnell stepped in to pitch and struck out five in her 3.2 frames of work. She allowed five hits and four runs to close out the pitching for UND.

Madi Moore each secured one hit for the Fighting Hawks as they tried to spark the offense for North Dakota.
After jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first, Sacramento State added one in the second and three in the fourth to secure the 12-0 decision.

Sacramento State used an 11-run second inning to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 13-2 lead. The Hornets did not look back as they took the 14-3 win over North Dakota on Thursday evening.
The Hornets stepped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning. North Dakota responded in the top of the second as
Liz Feld singled up the middle to place her on base.
Cassie Castaneda stepped up and singled to second base to advance Feld into scoring position, which allowed
Morgan Flann to step in for a pinch run.
Madi Moore continued the hitting frenzy as she singled to the pitcher to advance the runners and load the bases.
Jocelyn Kirk stepped up to the plate and hit an RBI to bring in Flann and cut the deficit to one. It was
Madison Pederson who hit the RBI double to place the Fighting Hawks in the lead as Moore and Castaneda scored.
Jackie Albrecht got the start in the circle for the Fighting Hawks. She surrendered ten runs and eight hits.
Morgan McConnell stepped into the circle after Albrecht. She allowed five hits and four runs in her 1.1 frames of work.
Lauren Feld closed out the pitching for the Fighting Hawks. She allowed no runs and no hits while securing one strike out.
North Dakota is scheduled to take on Saint Mary in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4 p.m. CT since it was moved from Saturday due to weather.
