GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Former University of North Dakota softball player
Makaela Carr made her professional debut this summer with the New York Rise of the newly-created Professional Softball League.
Carr pitched in a trio of contests for the team against Kansas City, firing two innings and allowing three runs while striking out one batter. In 2025, Carr went 9-9 across 32 appearances, including nine starts, with a 3.40 ERA for the Fighting Hawks and paced the squad with 103.0 innings pitched. She closed out nine games, logged a team-best 1.36 WHIP and notched four quality starts to earn All-Summit League Second Team honors.
The Professional Softball League (PSL) exists to advance professional softball through a coalition of equal partner franchises committed to upholding competitive integrity, providing player opportunities, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
The PSL will consist of professional teams that will compete in a league season coming in the summer of 2026 along with organizations set to compete in 2027 as their inaugural season. The 2026 PSL season will consist of the Florida Vibe, Atlanta Smoke, Kansas City Diamonds, Florida Breeze playing full schedules along with NY Rise, Chattanooga Chill and with more organizations to be announced to follow but with a reduced game schedule as those teams prepare for expansion and full schedules in 2027.
