NOTES: North Dakota, Notre Dame set for first NCAA Tournament clash

GRAND FORKS,  N.D. – North Dakota is set to make its 34th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday evening as the No. 2 seed against third-seeded Notre Dame from MVP Arena in Albany, N.Y.

All UND men's hockey games, home and away, can be heard on stations across the Home of Economy Fighting Hawks Radio Network, as well as through the iHeart Radio, FightingHawks and Varsity Network apps. The flagship station for the network is 96.1 FM (The Fox). Longtime broadcaster Tim Hennessy calls the action. 

Thursday's game can be seen on ESPNU with Ben Holden and Dave Starman calling the action. Fans can also watch online through the Watch ESPN platform on any device with a valid cable subscription.

Thursday marks the 38th all-time meeting between the two programs, with the series even at 17-17-3.

The last time these two met was Nov. 23-24, 2012 in South Bend. UND claimed the series opener by a 2-1 score before the Irish responded with a 5-2 victory to tally the split.

The programs have never met in the NCAA Tournament, but have played four times during the postseason, each grabbing a sweep at home in the 1973 (Notre Dame) and 1980 (UND) WCHA playoffs.
