UND Falls to SDSU in Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROOKINGS, S.D. – The University of North Dakota fell to South Dakota State University twice on Friday afternoon. The Fighting Hawks fell 6-0 in the first game, and they fell 2-0 in the second game.
 
Game 1: South Dakota State 6, North Dakota 0
The Jackrabbits scored four runs in the first inning to place them in the lead early in Brookings. They continued to extend the lead  as the sixth innings saw two runs to secure the 6-0 victory against the Fighting Hawks.

Jannay Jones pitched a full game against South Dakota State. During her 6.0 frames of work, she allowed nine hits and six runs in the loss.

The Fighting Hawks had six hits in the contest. Madi Moore had a pair of hits as she singled in the top of the first and singled at the top of the fifth. Jocelyn Kirk singled in the first inning to earn a hit as she tried to spark the UND offense. Lauren Feld doubled at the top of the fourth inning to place the Hawks in scoring position, but they were unable to finalize on the hit. Chevelle Sartin and Mariah Peters picked up their singles in the top of the sixth to round out the hitting for North Dakota. They were unable to break through with a run as they fell to SDSU 6-0 in the first game of the afternoon.
 
Game 1: South Dakota State 2, North Dakota 0
The Jackrabbits scored the only two of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the 2-0 victory against the Fighting Hawks.

Jackie Albrecht pitched a full game against South Dakota State. She allowed nine hits and two runs in the contest. She walked five players throughout her entire 6.0 frames of work.
The game was held to minimal scoring as both teams struggled to score until the sixth inning. North Dakota continued to battle, but they picked up a singular hit against South Dakota State's pitcher. The lone hit was picked up by Cassie Castaneda as she doubled to left field in the second inning. As the game continued, it was SDSU who broke through the drought to bring in the only pair of runs for the 2-0 victory.

The Fighting Hawks return to action tomorrow in game three of the series against the Jackrabbits. The game is set to begin at 11 AM in Brookings, S.D.
