SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League, along with the University of North Dakota released the league slate for the upcoming men's basketball season on Wednesday afternoon.
The schedule, which features a total of 18 games, will see the Fighting Hawks play all nine conference foes once in Grand Forks and once on the road. Except the North Dakota State game weeks and the opening week of Summit League play, the Fighting Hawks will play all league games on Thursday and Saturday. The opening week of conference play will have UND traveling to St. Thomas on Monday, Dec. 19 and Western Illinois on Wednesday, Dec. 21. The NDSU games will be played on Friday, with the Hawks hosting NDSU on Friday, Dec. 30 and then visiting Fargo on Friday, Jan. 27.
North Dakota opens the conference slate in December at St. Thomas (Dec. 19) and at Western Illinois (Dec. 21).
UND will close out the 2022 calendar year hosting North Dakota State on Friday, Dec. 30 to begin a three-game homestand. NoDak opens 2023 hosting South Dakota (Jan. 5) and South Dakota State (Jan. 7).
North Dakota visits Omaha (Jan. 12) and Denver (Jan. 14) midway through January, before returning home to host Kansas City (Jan. 19) and Oral Roberts (Jan. 21).
The last week of January and opening week of February runs through I-29. The Hawks will battle the Bison in Fargo on Friday, Jan. 27, before continuing south to square off with South Dakota State (Feb. 2) and South Dakota (Feb. 4).
On Feb. 9, the Fighting Hawks return to the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center to host the Pioneers of Denver. Two days later, UND hosts Omaha (Feb. 11).
The final road trip of Summit League play takes place in the middle of February, with the Hawks flying to Oral Roberts on Feb. 16 and then facing Kansas City on Feb. 18.
UND closes out the regular season with Western Illinois (Feb. 23) and St. Thomas (Feb. 25) inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
The 2023 Summit League Men's Basketball Championships will take place on March 4-7 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The tournament champion will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship.
