GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota ended the UND Classic with a 3-0 loss to the Fordham Rams on Saturday afternoon.
North Dakota battled early as Fordham took the 3-1 lead, but the Fighting Hawks battled and surpassed the Rams to make it 4-3. The teams traded points as they battled for the lead. UND was able to grab and extend the lead to make it 12-10. The Rams then went on a five-point run to take the 16-13 lead. Fordham did not look back as they took the first set 25-20. In the second set, the court saw similarities to the first set as the two teams traded points trying to gain an extensive lead. The Rams took the lead at 6-3 and kept it as they won the set 25-20. The Fighting Hawks started the third set slightly slower as the Rams took the 3-0 lead. North Dakota battled to gain a lead as they had a late rally to put them down by one (21-20). They were unable to keep the rally going as Fordham took the final set 25-23.
Statistically, North Dakota kept up with Fordham. The Fighting Hawks had 48 points to the Rams 53. UND had 40 kills, one ace, seven blocks, 38 assists and 51 digs compared to FU's 44 kills, five aces, four blocks, 40 assists and 53 digs.
The Fighting Hawks return to the road on Friday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. against Green Bay for the Green Bay Invite.

- North Dakota is now 2-6 on the season.
- Elizabeth Norris led the Fighting Hawks with 13 kills and 15 points. She had four blocks, nine digs and 14 assists.
- McCallister Gayle ended the evening with double-digit kills as she had ten. Gayle contributed 10.5 points against the Rams. She had one block.
- Marissa Stockman joined Gayle and Norris on the defense as she had three blocks. She ended the evening with four kills and 5.5 points.
- Sophia Ortquist had 5.5 points on the afternoon. She had three blocks and three kills.
- Peyton Sewell helped quarterback the offense with 20 assists. She had seven digs.
- Ashlyn Olson had six kills to give her six points on the afternoon.
- Kortney Carney finished the game against Fordham with 12 digs to lead UND's defense.
