DENVER, Colo. – The University of North Dakota soccer team fell to Denver 2-0 on Sunday afternoon from Colorado.
The Fighting Hawks fought hard Sunday afternoon as both teams sought to crack the scoreboard. Denver struck first at the two-minute mark to make it 1-0 early. The Fighting Hawks continued to seek their first goal, but the Pioneers tallied a second goal in the first half at the 28
th minute mark to lead 2-0. Neither team was able to score in the second half as Denver took the 2-0 victory.
North Dakota attacked Denver in the first half with two shots and a corner kick. Although UND had two attempts, the hosts surpassed the Fighting Hawks as they had 12 shots and seven corners.
As they sought their first goal, UND added two more shots to their total and one more corner kick. Denver maintained the pace as they had 12 shots in the second half to give them a total of 24 and added two corners.
Both teams played a physical match as the end saw 13 combined fouls. There was one yellow card in the match, which was awarded to North Dakota.
