Series History vs North Texas
This will be the first time the Fighting Hawks will play North Texas.
Last Time Out: vs Southern Miss
Cold shooting doomed the Fighting Hawks against Southern Miss as they fell 75-53 to the Lady Eagles. UND started the contest by going 3-for-6 from deep in the first quarter, but would knock down just one of their next 13 attempts from range.Â
The second and third quarters were the difference in the contest, as the Lady Eagles outscored the Fighting Hawks 42-22 over those 20 minutes of play. Southern Miss shot 18-for-45 from the field, while holding UND to 9-of-37 shooting during the stretch.
Borowicz in the Rankings
Kacie Borowicz ranks first in the summit league in a number of categories through the first five games of the season. Borowicz leads the conference in points per game (21.8), points (109), free throws made (29), free throw attempts (33) and field goals made (38).Â
Borowicz is among the NCAA's best in both points per game and free throws made.
Pemberton Posts First Career Double-Double
In her first game at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, freshman
Kiera Pemberton posted her first career double-double in the green and white. Pemberton poured in 18 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting and was active on the boards with 11 total rebounds.Â
She helped the NoDak offense push the pace, securing eight defensive rebounds with three of those boards resulting in seven fast break points for the freshman. Pemberton corralled three offensive rebounds and went 4-for-7 from the free throw line.
Pemberton is no stranger to stuffing the stats sheet, as she averaged 34 points and 14 rebounds per game in her final season at Walnut Groce Secondary. She dominated the British Columbia Provincial Championships with a staggering 41.5 points and 14 rebounds per game over four games.Â
1,500-Point Club
With 20 points against Grand Canyon,
Kacie Borowicz became the 13th North Dakota women's basketball player to reach 1,500 career points. She is the second player in the Division I player to reach the career milestone, and is 59 points away from Lexi Klabo's (2015-19) record of 1,633 points scored in the North Dakota Division I era.
