NOTES: Hawks Going After Third Straight win Saturday vs Omaha

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota will take on Omaha Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. Fans can follow all the action on Midco Sports, as well as by tuning into Paul Ralston's call on the Home of Economy Radio Network.

 

Series History vs. the Mavericks

Thursday will be the 101st meeting between the Hawks and the Mavericks—UND owns a 56-44 edge in the series and won the last meeting in Grand Forks 81-69 last February. As Summit League opponents the Mavericks have an 8-2 edge (since 2019).

Omaha took the first meeting this season 69-63.

 

Last Time Out

North Dakota won their second straight game with an 86-63 win over Denver Thursday night. Four Hawks reached double figures (B.J. Omot 16, Matt Norman/Tsotne Tsartsidze 15, Jalun Trent 14). Omot led the team with nine rebounds and two blocks. UND led wire to wire, opening the game on a 6-0 run and led by as many as 26 points in the game.

Nine different players scored in the game for UND (Elijah Brooks and Mitchell Sueker 8, Brady Danielson 5, Caleb Nero 3, Treysen Eaglestaff 2).

 

Bench Boost

North Dakota enters the matchup with the most bench scoring in the Summit League and is No. 30 team nationally in that category. The Fighting Hawks are averaging 26.35 points per game from the reserves this season. The next closest bench in the league is Omaha with 24.12.

 

Shaking it up

North Dakota used their ninth different starting lineup combination of the season the last two games (Jalun Trent, Matt Norman, Brady Danielson, B.J. Omot and Tsotne Tsartsidze), which equaled the number of different combinations used last season. On the team, Tsartsidze has the most active consecutive starts currently with 46, followed by Omot with 26. Danielson and has started the last 13 games and Trent the last 11.
