AUSTIN, Texas – Heptathlon competition at the Texas Relays began on Wednesday.
Elise Ulseth is the lone member of the North Dakota track and field team at the meet and is currently in 13th with a total score of 3,226 points.
Ulseth opened the day in the 100-meter hurdles and clocked a time of 14.24 to pick up her first 945 points of the meet. Her point total in the 100-meter hurdles was her highest point total of the day.
In the next event, she had her best heptathlon event finish of the afternoon, recording the eighth-best height in the high jump with a clearance of 5-6 (1.68m).
One hour later, Ulseth added another 647 points with a PR throw of 38-7 3/4 (11.78m) in the shot put, beating her previous best of 37-6 (11.43m).
She concluded the day with the 200 meters, running a time of 25.92 to score 804 additional points, bringing her total to 3,226 with three events remaining.
Ulseth will resume the heptathlon at the Texas Relays at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, while the rest of the team will split up and begin action at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and the Stanford Invitational. Live results for all meets can be found on
