GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Two recent University of North Dakota football players will showcase their skills to NFL scouts and CFL representatives during Pro Day at the Pollard Athletic Center on Wednesday, March 29. Both players,
Tyler Hoosman and
Garett Maag, were on the Fighting Hawks roster last season.
Hoosman had a sensational 2022 season at North Dakota after transferring from Northern Iowa. In one year, Hoosman put his name in the UND Division I record book, coming in at No. 9 in career rushing yards (1,023) and tied for No. 8 in career rushing touchdowns (12). His rushing yardage in 2022 also sits No. 3 in UND's Division I history for yards rushed in a single season. He ranked third in the conference for most rushing yards in 2022 with 1,023 yards and was also third in rushing yards per game with 85.2.
The Northern Iowa transfer finished his year with six 100-yard rushing games, including a career-high 147 yards in the 48-31 win over Missouri State. At the conclusion of the season, Hoosman earned second team All-MVFC honors and was named to the first team MVFC All-Academic Team.
Maag spent five seasons with the Fighting Hawks and had 39 starts in his career at wide receiver. He was a staple of the North Dakota passing attack throughout his career and is No. 2 in UND's Division I history for career touchdown receptions with 19. He also ranks third in the Division I record book for career receptions (164) and career receiving yards (2,205). Maag was a leader both on and off the field and it showed, with him being voted as a team captain in each of the past three seasons.
In 2022, Maag saw action at wide receiver in every game and had 11 starts. He hauled in 36 receptions for 477 yards and five touchdowns, all marks which ranked second on the team. He also tied for No. 10 in the conference with his five receiving touchdowns and was 11th in the MVFC in both receiving yards (540) and receptions per game (3.4). Maag piled up a season-high 104 yards receiving in the 48-31 win over Missouri State.
The competitions expected to take place at the Pro Day are the bench press, 40-yard dash, vertical and broad jumps, three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle. All athletes at Pro Day will be showcasing their abilities in preparation for the NFL Draft, set for April 27-29 in Kansas City, Mo.
Fans are welcome to attend Pro Day and sit in the permanent seating inside the facility, with competitions inside the Pollard Athletic Center scheduled to start shortly after 2 p.m.
