GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota Volleyball team has announced the signing of Jarolin de los Santos Lugo for the fall 2023 season. The middle blocker was named a First Team NJCAA All-American and Second Team AVCA All-America a season ago as she racked up 201 total blocks; leading the nation and setting a program record that helped spur Indian Hills to be the top blocking team in the nation. She totaled 150 block assists and 1.5 blocks per set, both of which were third in the country.

She also was a force on the offensive end, hitting .358 last fall and totaling 189 kills. For her career she was a .337 hitter, was named two-time NJCAA All-Region XI First Team, and was named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week five times.

Coach Jesse Tupac added the following on Lugo, "we couldn't be more excited to welcome Jarolin to join us for the remainder of her collegiate career.  She is a phenomenal volleyball player and an even better human being.  From the moment we started talking, it was clear she was a great fit for our team culturally.  On top of that, she is a dominant force as a blocker, having led the nation the last 3 years at the NJCAA level in that category.  Fighting Hawks fans will love cheering her on as she dons the Green and White over the next few seasons."

Lugo originally hails from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  While a prep player in her home country she represented the Dominican Republic on the u18 and u20 National Teams.
