Four Hawks Awarded Summit League Honors

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Summit League office released the end of the season awards Tuesday, with four from North Dakota making the list. Catcher Cassie Castaneda was named to the first team as well as being named Defensive Player of the Year, Katie Joten and Madi Moore were named to the second team and Madison Pederson was named Honorable Mention.

Castaneda had a great year behind the plate, throwing out 20 runners attempting to steal. She also had a great year hitting, finishing second on the team with a .325 average, led the team with 49 hits and tied for the team lead with five home runs. Joten, a first year player after transferring from Green Bay, led the Hawks with a .333 average and .477 on base percentage and finished second on the team with 40 hits. Moore led the team with 26 runs scored and was one of four players with a triple this season. Pederson tied Castaneda with five home runs and led the Hawks with 36 RBI, which was second most in the Summit League.
