Rapaduski’s Corner Kick Goal Propels UND to 1-1 Draw

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Setting up corner kick in the 78th minute down 1-0, Allison Rapaduski took a corner from the southeast corner of the field and drilled a magnificent curling ball past the goalkeeper and the ball snuck into far top corner of the net. While hoping to find a teammate at the far post, the senior forward found the back of the net for third straight game as North Dakota drew with Austin Peay 1-1.

In the first 11 minutes of the game, UND had two corner kick opportunities and three shots; narrowly missing the net each time. APSU got the first shot on goal in the 13th minute, which was collected by Madi Livingston. In the half, the Governors took eight shots with three on goal while the Fighting Hawks took seven shots with two on goal. Both keepers stood tall as they kept all five scoring chances out of the back of the net to keep the score at 0-0 going into halftime.

As the second half began, the game opened up for both teams after a conservative first half by each team. Play became very free flowing and physical, but Austin Peay managed to capitalize on a scoring opportunity off a free kick in the 53rd minute. After a free kick came in from the midfield, Livingston made an outstretched save on the initial shot but the second effort from the Governors found the back of the net. UND had a great chance in the 70th minute when Paula Moreno Diaz took a free kick but was denied by the post. But not too long after, UND would get the corner kick from Rapaduski that evened the game. In the final moments of the game, Austin Peay had a chance for a late winner but Alisha Maake got a foot in front of the attacker to prevent the ball from going in and ensure the draw.
