GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota soccer team fell, 2-0, to Grand Canyon on Sunday afternoon from Bronson Field in Grand Forks, N.D. With the loss, UND (3-3-2) sees its unbeaten streak come to an end at five and fall to 1-3-2 at home this season.
Grand Canyon (5-2-1) controlled play for a majority of the contest, finishing with a 30-4 overall shot advantage and recording 10 shots on target compared to zero for the Fighting Hawks.
Madi Livingston held strong between the pipes for the hosts, matching her season high of eight saves.
Both teams worked to establish possession in the early going, but it was GCU who finally broke the scoreless deadlock in the 43rd minute on a goal from Payton Fisher to give the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Lopes really carried the offensive pressure, finishing with a 23-1 shot advantage before Gianna Gourley scored her eighth goal of the season in the 82nd minute to seal the victory.
North Dakota remains home to battle Wyoming on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Bronson Field.
