Fighting Hawks Soar Over Lions 3-0 to Conclude Nonconference Play

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota soccer team wrapped up their nonconference slate on Sunday with a 3-0 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff. An early first half goal from Allison Rapaduski gave UND lead in the eighth minute of the game, and late goals from Evelyn Pazienza and Ariana Chisteckoff sealed the game for the Fighting Hawks.

Early on UND had the majority of the possession and played most of the opening minutes on the UAPB side of the field. Paula Moreno Diaz had the first effort on net for the Hawks in the sixth minute, which was saved. A little over two minutes later, Rapaduski dribbled down the center of the field and put up a perfectly placed curling ball that beat the keeper and snuck into the top right corner of the net. A second goal nearly came in the first half off a header from Mary Gasaway, but the effort was too high. Madi Livingston made two saves at the end of the half that kept the Lions off the board.

Amelia Loeffler recorded the first shot on goal of the second half in the 52nd minute but it was saved. Shots were hard to come by in the half, but Diaz put another shot on net in the 59th minute that was also saved. The Fighting Hawks finally got their second goal when Julia Briggs played a ball up the left line that found Loeffler, who played it into the box before Pazienza tapped it home for the 2-0 lead.

In the final minute of the game, a ball that was thought to be out of play was picked up by Kaylie Fowler, who dribbled and found Chisteckoff for a finish at the low right corner of the net to cap off the scoring. The back line of Alexis McPhail, Sarah McCracken and Gasaway did a stellar job in the second half not allowing any chances to be taken against Livingston.

The Fighting Hawks now begin their Summit League schedule Thursday at home as they take on Omaha at Bronson Field at 3 p.m. The game will air on Midco Sports and The Summit League Network.
