Livingston Breaks School Record, Hawks & Bears Play to 0-0 Draw

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – In a match that saw 15 total shots and only five shots on goal, North Dakota and Northern Colorado played to a 0-0 draw at Bronson Field on Thursday afternoon.

With the shutout, Madi Livingston broke the school record for clean sheets in a career with 15. She passed Catherine Klein (2016-19) for the record. Klein had 14 shutouts in her career.

Livingston also had the most intense moment of the match, facing Lauren Fuller on a penalty kick. Fuller of Northern Colorado (0-6-1) was fouled inside the box in the 63rd minute and went left on the PK, which was saved by Livingston. It was Livingston's only save of the match in 90 minutes of play. She also helped end an attack by the Bears in the 11th minute with a punch-out clearance after a set piece attack.

Despite the scoreless affair, North Dakota (3-2-2) finished the match with a 9-6 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal. Irene Jirasevijinda, Kaylie Fowler and Amelia Loeffler each recorded a pair of shots and one shot on frame.

The first half saw three scoring attempts by each team before heading into intermission knotted up at 0-0. The best scoring opportunity of the first 45 minutes came in the 26th minute, when Loeffler went 1-on-4 with Northern Colorado defenders and nearly found the back of the net.

Three minutes into the second half, UND had another promising attempt when Brynn Belcher found Fowler at the top of the box. Fowler put the shot on goal, but it was saved by Kaya Lindberg, who spent all 90 minutes in net for the Bears and finished with four saves.

The penalty kick in the 63rd minute ended up being the only shot on goal for Northern Colorado in the entire contest.

North Dakota will continue its homestand on Sunday, hosting Grand Canyon at 1 p.m. The game will be carried on the Summit League Network.
