UND falls, 5-2, to Creighton in season opener

Box Score OMAHA, Neb. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to Creighton on Friday afternoon in the 2023-24 regular season opener from Hanscom Tennis Courts in snowy Omaha, Neb. 

Creighton (1-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a trio of wins in doubles play before extending the advantage to 3-0 with a pair of two-set victories on the No. 2 and 3 courts.

Jayho Hong got the Fighting Hawks (0-1) on the board, as the sophomore battled back from a loss in the opening set to post 6-2, 6-3 triumphs over the final two stanzas at the fourth position. 

After the Bluejays clinched the match victory, Ange-Kevin Koua notched his first victory as a Fighting Hawk in a thrilling win on the top court. The Hampton transfer went the distance in both of his sets, grabbing a pair of 7-6 wins to collect a hard-earned second point for the visitors. 

North Dakota returns to action on Saturday morning against Nebraska at 11 a.m. from Lincoln.
