GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A pair of Fighting Hawks represented the North Dakota men's and women's tennis teams on the 2026 Summit League Tennis All-Academic Team league officials announced on Tuesday.
Christos Alex and
Alyssa Giupponi each earned their respective first career recognitions on the awards list that is selected based on a combination of both outstanding academic and athletic performances during the 2025-26 season.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale, have completed at least one full academic year at their current institution and have participated in at least 50 perfect of their team's competition. Nominations are submitted by sports information directors from Summit League institutions that sponsor tennis, with voting conducted by SIDS and faculty athletics representatives (FARs). The team consists of the six student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties included.
In his senior year campaign for UND, Alex served as an explosive asset for the Fighting Hawks during a season that ended in a conference title match appearance. He collected six singles victories while tying for a team-high 13 doubles wins highlighted by a dominating 6-0 showing from the No. 2 position. Off the court, Alex maintained a 3.95 GPA while obtaining his degree in finance and was recently named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
Giupponi eclipsed 12 singles wins on the year while adding in eight doubles wins—a performance that helped her secure her first career All-Summit League Honorable Mention accolade. The sophomore dominated in conference competition and helped guide North Dakota to the Summit League title match. She holds a 3.39 grade point average as she pursues a major in elementary education and has recently been recognized as a 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District honoree and the Summit League Women's Tennis Scholar of the Championship.
