FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team fell, 5-2, on Saturday night to Colorado State from the Fort Collins Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
UND (1-3) jumped out to a strong start once again, grabbing a 1-0 lead with a pair of victories on the top courts. The middle pairing of
Nore Heinitz and
Jule Schulte started it off with a 6-3 triumph before the top duo of
Andrea Jansson and
Sapir Sela followed with a 6-3 win of their own to get the visitors off to a 1-0 advantage.
Colorado State (1-0) was able to take control in singles action, however, claiming the first four matches to jump in front and take the overall match victory. Schulte earned the second point for the Fighting Hawks with a three-set rally on the No. 4 court, as the sophomore bounced back from a loss in the first set to post 6-2, 10-8 victories.
North Dakota will head to Minnesota for a border battle on Jan. 26 at noon from Minneapolis, Minn.
