UND hangs tough in 6-1 defeat at Minnesota

Box Score MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team fell, 6-1, at Minnesota on Friday afternoon from the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn. 

UND (1-4) once again got out to a strong start, grabbing the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and 2 courts. After the Golden Gophers (3-0) captured a 6-1 win at the bottom spot, the middle pairing of Jule Schulte and Nore Heinitz brought the two-person action level with a 6-3 victory. 

On the top court, Sapir Sela and Andrea Jansson battled for a 7-6 triumph, claiming the tiebreak with a 7-5 score, to cement the doubles point for NoDak for the fourth time in five matches to begin the season. 

The Fighting Hawks were able to hang around in singles play, but the Gophers grabbed victories on each of the six courts in two sets to finish off the 6-1 victory. 

North Dakota returns to action next weekend with a trip to Wisconsin to battle Milwaukee at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
