GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The North Dakota men's basketball team will resume its Summit League schedule this week, heading to Omaha for the showdown with the Mavericks. Both teams enter the game 8-9 overall while UND is 0-2 in the Summit League and Omaha 1-1.
Series History vs. the Mavericks
North Dakota holds a 57-44 lead in the overall series, but trail 17-29 in Omaha. As Summit League opponents the Mavericks hold an 8-3 advantage, but the Fighting Hawks have won three of the last five meetings.
Scouting the Opponent
The Mavericks are led by coach Chris Crutchfield, who is in his second season leading the program. He was previously an assistant at East Central College in Oklahoma, and has been an assistant coach at multiple schools.
The team is averaging 72.3 points per game, and allowing 68.7. From the floor the Mavericks are shooting .446 and .326 from three point range. Frankie Fidler leads the team with 17.2 points per game, joined in double figures by Marquel Sutton with 10.9. Sutton leads the team with six rebounds per game while Nick Davis leads the team with 16 blocks and Fidler leads with 22 steals.
Living Downtown
Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.
North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 174 games played.

Last Season
North Dakota finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 13-20 record, a seven win improvement over 2021-22. The Fighting Hawks won their first Summit League Tournament game in three years with an 83-68 win over Denver in the first game of the tournament. The team won six of their last nine games, regular and postseason, last year.
