OMAHA, NEB. – The North Dakota Fighting Hawks dropped a close 1-0 contest at Omaha on Thursday night. An early goal by the Mavericks in the first half ultimately decided tonight's match.
Freshman
Grace Miller showcased her defensive range in the net during the opening minute of a game as she lunged to save a shot aimed at the bottom corner by Omaha.
In the 16th minute, Omaha's Meg Nemnich fired a shot high that, just missing the hands of Miller, bounced off the crossbar into the net for the 1-0 lead.
With seconds left in the half, Omaha was awarded a corner kick that led to a pair of shots. With Miller tied up after the first shot, UND's defenseman posted up in front of the goal to block the second shot.
The Fighting Hawks secured a corner kick in the 82nd minute where
Kaylie Fowler and
Amelia Loeffler fired off back-to-back shots.
UND heads south to Kansas City to continue Summit League play against the Roos on Sunday, October 13 at 1 p.m. The conference dual can be streamed on the Summit League Network.
