GRAND FORKS, N.D. - No. 9/10 North Dakota will resume MVFC play and host Northern Iowa inside the Alerus Center this Saturday. The Fighting Hawks and Panthers are scheduled to battle on the gridiron at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on Midco Sports. It will also be carried on the Fighting Hawks Radio Network with a pregame show starting at Noon.

UND has a 4-2 record and 1-1 standing in MVFC action. Most recently, North Dakota fell 41-17 at North Dakota State two weeks ago. Simon Romfo was 18-for-23 passing for 166 yards and a touchdown. Bo Belquist was UND's top receiver with four grabs for 61 yards and also added a career-best 66-yard punt return. Gaven Ziebarth led the backfield with 12 rushes for 65 yards. In the game, Caden Dennis had his first career touchdown reception in the form of a five-yard catch and C.J. Elrichs drilled a career-long 45-yard field goal. Wyatt Pedigo led the defense with six tackles and a half a tackle-for-loss, trailed by Josh Navratil with six tackles.

UNI is 2-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play following a 42-17 loss at No. 4 South Dakota last weekend. Matthew Schecklman went 18-for-26 through the air for 250 yards and a touchdown, while also surrendering one interception. Aidan Dunne also had one pass for five yards. Desmon Hutson paced the UNI air attack with four catches for 94 yards, while Tye Edwards led the Panthers on the ground with 19 attempts for 53 yards and a touchdown. Albert Nunes was the top defender with 11 total tackles, four of them being solo.

Northern Iowa holds a 26-14 series lead. In games played in Grand Forks, the Panthers also hold a 10-9 edge in the series. This will be just the third time the two squads have met as MVFC members. UND won the first contest in the 2022 Potato Bowl USA Game, 29-27, while the Panthers blanked the Hawks, 27-0, in Cedar Falls last season.
