NOTES: No. 7 UND to play football outside state for first time in eight weeks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - No. 7 North Dakota will leave the state to play a football game for the first time in eight weeks on Saturday, visiting Youngstown State at Stambaugh Stadium on Saturday at 5 p.m. (CT). The game will be televised by Midco Sports Two. It will also be carried on the Fighting Hawks Radio Network with a pregame show starting at 4 p.m. (CT).

UND has a 5-2 record and 2-1 standing in MVFC play after defeating Northern Iowa inside the Alerus Center last week, 31-7. The Fighting Hawks never trailed in the contest and rushed for 267 yards in the win, while holding the Panthers to just 36 yards on the ground. Simon Romfo was 14-for-24 passing for 107 yards and a touchdown. Bo Belquist was his favorite target, hauling in six catches for 72 yards and a score - all in the first half. Gaven Ziebarth led the backfield with 14 rushes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Jy Martin recorded his first interception as a Fighting Hawk and UND was +1.0 in turnover margin.

YSU carries a 2-6 record and 1-3 mark in MVFC action after falling to No. 4 South Dakota at Stambaugh Stadium, 27-17, on Saturday. The Penguins jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and led 17-14 at the halfway point before dropping the decision. Beau Brungard was 22-for-31 through the air for 208 yards and a touchdown, while also scoring a 69-yard rushing touchdown. Max Tomczak had a team-high nine grabs for 90 yards, while Brandon Serrano also caught a  15-yard touchdown pass. Ethan Wright paced the backfield with 13 carries for 50 yards. 

North Dakota holds a 4-0 series lead and a 2-0 mark between the squads as MVFC opponents. Both of the games between the two teams this century have been decided by less than a touchdown, with UND winning in Grand Forks by a score of 24-21 in 2021 and in Youngstown in 2022, 35-30.
